Berkshires Vacation

There are many different things you can do on a Berkshires vacation. Each season brings different opportunities to explore and enjoy. It seems like every little town has something special about it.

Winter of course is a very popular time in the Berkshires for outdoor enthusiasts. There are many places to go skiing, cross country skiing, tubing and more in this part of Massachusetts. Don't miss great places like Jiminy Peak Resort and Berkshire East.

Berkshires vacation, Hancock Shaker Village, Berkshire Museum, Jiminy Peak, Appalachian Trail During the warmer months, there are many things for visitors to do as well. There are many places to go camping, hiking, biking trails and kayaking. There are even a few white water rafting trips you can take here.

The Appalachian Trail passes through this region, beginning in South County at Mount Everett and goes all they way to the Vermont border. The Mohawk Trail also runs through this region. It is one of the most popular fall foliage tours in the state.

If you like golf, we have great championship golf courses that make a great Berkshires vacation as well. Places like Cranwell Resort, that has a championship golf course, hotel and spa are a must for any golfer!

There are also a few wineries here that you simply must see. Since the altitude in the Berkshires is a bit high for growing grapes, see how these vintners improvised at Chester Hill Winery. If you are interested in the cider making process, make sure to visit the West County Winery.

Want to learn about plants that grow well in this climate? Make sure to visit the Berkshire Botanical Garden, which has been around since 1934.

There are many cultural activities available throughout the year here. Make sure to visit one of the many great museums in the region.

For instance, Norman Rockwell spent the last 25 years of his life in this area. You can visit his home and studio for a closer look at this American artist.

You can also visit Hancock Shaker Village, where a large community of this religious group thrived for many years.

Or, you could visit the Berkshire Museum, which is an eclectic mix of fine art, natural history, minerals and more.

Do you like theater? Then make sure to visit the Berkshire Theater Festival, which has been entertaining audiences for more than 75 years.

Make sure to also check out the Williamstown Theater Festival, which has received several awards for excellence in theatre.

Another wonderful, outdoor theater group is Shakespeare & Company, located in Lenox. They have become a very popular group that performs throughout the year.

Don't forget to plan ahead. Find a great hotel, inn or bed and breakfast in the Berkshires.
