A Massachusetts Fall Foliage Vacation
A Fall Foliage vacation is the perfect way to experience the last few warm days of the year. The summer crowds have all gone home, giving you the perfect opportunity to experience Massachusetts in a quieter fashion. Any part of Massachusetts is beautiful at this time, it just depends on what you want to do!
Antique ShoppingIt seems like every quaint town in Massachusetts has a set of antique shops. Towns such as Rockport in the North Shore are known for their antique shops. You will find towns like this all along Cape Cod and in western Massachusetts as well. If you are planning your fall foliage vacation for September, I suggest the Brimfield Antiques and Collectibles Show. This is the place to go if you are interested in something a little different. It is sort a cross between an antique show and a flea market. Make sure to go early, since the show gets very crowded and most of the deals are gone later!Enjoy a Golf GameFall is the perfect time for a golf game. Not only are you out on the course, but you are in the most gorgeous natural surroundings! The changing leaves add so much.Go to a Fall Festival There are all sorts of Fall festivals in Massachusetts. Since this is traditionally the harvest season, most festivals are dedicated to those sorts of activities. You will find county fairs, chowder cook-offs, cider tastings and more all over Massachusetts.
Go Wine Tasting There are more than 20 wineries all over Massachusetts. Many have distinct flavors of wine and special ingredients. You will find, fruit wines, cranberry flavored wines and various kinds of ciders in Massachusetts.Go on a Hiking TripThere are so many opportunities to go hiking all over Massachusetts. Where ever you decide to go for your fall foliage vacation, you will find great hiking trails in your area.Go to the BeachEventhough, summer is over for many, that does not mean that you cannot still enjoy the shore. It may not be warm enough to go swimming, but some fall days in Massachusetts are perfect for sitting in a chair and reading on the beach. Bring a lunch, sunglasses, and an extra jacket just in case. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, you many want to walk around a bit.
Go on a Kayaking Trip Whether you decide to go on a river or on the ocean, fall is a great time to go kayaking. If you decide to rent a kayak, the prices at such places are lower. But if you really want to see fall foliage, I recommend going on one of the gorgeous Massachusetts rivers. It is so quiet and serene, you will feel like you have discovered a new part of the state! Go on a Scenic DriveWherever you decide to go in Massachusetts at this time of year, you will have a scenic drive. But if you just want to see foliage, I suggest trying out these fall foliage tours. If you're interested in exploring other areas in New England during the autumn then check out this fall foliage in New England Guide.
