Massachusetts Shopping

Massachusetts shopping malls are in every corner of the state. Whether you are looking for a high-end antique or a bargain, you will find plenty of places where you can get exactly what you are looking for.

Greater Boston

Boston and the surrounding area has all types of stores and shopping malls. The three places where you should start Boston shopping are Copley Place and Prudential Center, Newbury Street and Park Street.

In Copley, the Prudential and on Newbury Street you will find high-end stores such as Tiffany's, Armani, Saks 5th Avenue and Neiman Marcus. Newbury Street is a beautiful street to walk down, but I recommend shopping on this street during fair weather.

Boston, Newbury Street, Massachusetts Shopping

This is also the best area in Boston to relax and pamper yourself. Why not take a shopping break and have a massage at any one of these day spas in Boston? Copley and the Prudential Center are both indoors and have great Boston restaurants.

Park Street is also a great place to walk around, there are great shops here such as Filene's Basement, which is famous for its Bridal Event. It is also very close to Chinatown, where there are great restaurants on every corner.

Interested in doing antiquing while in Boston? There are many shops to visit, but if you want to go where the selection is, I suggest Charles Street.

Cambridge is just a ride on the T away from Boston and also has great shopping. Harvard Square is full of bookstores, clothing stores and other shops with must-have items. The CambridgeSide Galleria located just over the Charles River in Cambridge is a wonderful mall with all sorts of shops. This mall is also very close to centrally located hotels and the Boston Museum of Science.

Northeastern Massachusetts

Northeastern Massachusetts has several areas with great Massachusetts shopping.

Just outside Boston, in Burlington, you will find one of the nicest malls in all of Massachusetts. It is the Burlington Mall and is very easy to get to since it is at the junction of I-95 and Route 3.

If you plan to travel by car, Saugus is a great town to start your shopping adventure in, especially if you want to see where the locals shop. Either side of Route 1 is lined with stores and restaurants. Be careful driving here though, it is highway, and in order to get to a store on the other side of Route 1 you must exit and use an overpass to get to the other side. If you want to take your shopping adventure off this highway, there are two shopping malls for you to enjoy. The Square One Mall is located on the south side of Route One, and the North Shore Mall is located between Route 114 and 128.

Keep heading north and visit Newburyport and Rockport, two very picturesque towns, have a wonderful selection of shops full of antiques, jewelry and galleries. If you happen to visit Newburyport on the weekend, be sure to visit the Oldies Marketplace, located right next to the Custom House Museum, an indoor flea market on Water Street.

Southeastern Massachusetts

When visiting this part of Massachusetts, be sure to check out the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets in Wrentham, just a few miles north on Route 495 where 495 and I-95 meet in this area. Here you will find hundreds of outlets such as Saks 5th Avenue, Banana Republic, Massachusetts shopping, Wrentham Outlets, outlet shopping Williams Sonoma.

In Braintree, just south of Boston, you will find the South Shore Plaza, a mall very similar to the North Shore Mall. Here you will find stores such as Build-A-Bear, Lord & Taylor and J. Crew.

Cape Cod has a few Massachusetts shopping areas as well, including a few factory outlet malls. Located on Route 6 near the Sagamore Bridge, the Cape Cod Factory Outlet Mall has many great brand name deals such as OshKosh, Corningware, Lane Bryant and Reebok. The Tanger Factory Outlet mall is located in Buzzards Bay. The easiest way to get here is on your way out of Cape Cod.

Make sure to check out the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis, it is the largest mall on the Cape. It is a great place for Massachusetts shopping on a rainy day.

Continue on down the arm of the Cape, all the way to Provincetown. This town is packed with shops and galleries all over the place. If you are in town on the weekend, be sure to check out the Farmer's Market across the street from Town Hall on Ryder Street. Here you can purchase artisan cheese and fresh produce picked the same day.

Central Massachusetts

Worcester, the largest town in Central Massachusetts, has several Massachusetts shopping opportunities. The Greendale Mall is located near the junction of I-190 and I-290 and has stores such as Olympia Sports, Hannoush Jewlers and Foot Locker. There are about 50 different retail stores in this mall.

The Gardner Furniture Outlets are six independently owned furniture stores located all off Route 2 in Gardner. The Brimfield Antiques and Collectibles Show happens three times a year in Brimfield at the New England Motel. Every May, July and September, about 4,500 antique dealers come to this field at the New England motel to sell their wares for five days.

Western Massachusetts

Any town you visit in this area will have great antiques and other Massachusetts shopping opportunities. But if you are looking for deals, the Prime Outlets in Lee are for you. Here you will find stores such as Coach, Ralph Lauren, Gap and Brooks Brothers, all with discounted prices. Prime Outlets is less than an hour away from Springfield and only two hours away from Boston.
