Massachusetts Skiing

Planning a ski trip? Find up to date Massachusetts skiing conditions here.

There are many places you can go for Massachusetts skiing. Naturally, you can expect larger mountains in western Massachusetts since the Berkshire hills are an extension of the northeast Appalachian Mountain range. But there are some great ski areas in eastern Massachusetts as well that are great places to learn how to ski and offer great deals on night skiing.

Most of these ski areas feature other snow activities, such as tubing parks, racing and terrain parks for snow-boarders.

All have ski and snowboard schools, whether you are new to snow sports, or want to get a few pointers on form.

Eastern Massachusetts:

Bradford Ski Area: Located in Haverhill, this 13 trail ski hill is a perfect place if you are learning to ski or snowboard, or are looking for a place for some night skiing outside of Boston.

Nashoba Valley Ski Area: This ski area has 17 trails and excellent night skiing. Be sure to check out their tubing park as well!

Ski Ward Hill: This ski area in Shrewsbury features 10 trails. Ward Hill also has a nice tubing park.

Wachusett Mountain: This ski area is probably the largest of all the eastern Massachusetts skiing areas. It has 20 trails, most of them are intermediate slopes. These hotels around Wachusett Mountain will help you unwind after a day on the slopes.

Western Massachusetts:

Berkshire East Ski Area: This ski area has 45 trails from novice to double black diamond. Most of these trails are novice and intermediate slopes. Berkshire East also has a great tubing park.

Blandford Ski Area: Blandford has 22 trails, most are novice and intermediate, but they have 5 black diamond trails.

Otis Ridge Ski Area: This ski area has 11 ski trails that feature a nice mix of runs for all levels. Otis Ridge prides itself on being a family-friendly ski area.

Ski Butternut: Butternut has 22 trails, most of which are at the intermediate level. Want a long trail? This ski area has one that goes for 1.5 miles! This ski resort also has a tubing park for extra fun in the snow. Make sure to check out the hotels, motels and bed & breakfasts around Butternut.

Catamount Ski Area: Catamount features 32 trails from novice to double black diamond. This ski area also has the longest run in western Massachusetts at 2.5 miles. Interested in staying a few days? Catamount is surrounded by great hotels, inns and B&B's.

Bousquet Ski Area: This ski area has 21 trails that range between novice to black diamond. Make sure to check out the Bousquet tubing park.

Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort:

This ski area is the largest in Massachusetts, with 44 trails. Jiminy Peak also features two snow tubing options.
